An umbrella company is an employment company that acts as the employer for contractors and temporary workers. Instead of setting up your own limited company, you become an employee of the umbrella company. The umbrella processes your timesheets, invoices the agency or end client, deducts tax and National Insurance through PAYE, and pays you a net salary.
Yes. As an employee of the umbrella company, you are entitled to statutory holiday pay at 12.07%. This may either be:
Accrued – built up and paid when you take leave, or
Advanced/Rolled Up – included within your regular pay.
Your payslip will clearly show how holiday pay is calculated and applied.
Yes. As an employee of Marvel Payroll, you will be automatically enrolled into JARVIS - A workplace pension scheme if you meet the Government’s eligibility criteria (including age and earnings thresholds).
You will receive written confirmation when you are enrolled and have the option to opt out within the statutory timeframe if you choose to do so.
Yes. As an employee paid via PAYE, you may be entitled to statutory benefits, subject to eligibility criteria set by HMRC. These include:
• Statutory Sick Pay (SSP)
• Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP)
• Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP)
• Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP)
Eligibility is based on factors such as average earnings and length of service. Marvel Payroll can provide guidance on qualifying conditions if required.
Yes. You can remain employed by Marvel Payroll while working across multiple assignments and agencies.
As long as you are engaged under the umbrella model, you do not need to set up a new payroll arrangement for each contract. Simply provide the new assignment details, and Marvel Payroll will manage the payroll processing accordingly.
